A Week-Long Trip to Kamchatka: Budget, Excursions, and Accommodation

Kamchatka: counting the budget of a week-long trip and getting acquainted with the Lesnaya base
Kamchatka is not just a point on the map. These are volcanoes that look like they were painted by a science fiction artist, steaming geysers, bears on the horizon and the Pacific Ocean at your feet. Sounds like a dream? Let's figure out how much it will cost and take a closer look at the Lesnaya recreation center, a place where you can relax after long walks in the wild.

 Tickets: the first step towards your dream
Let's start with the flight. A direct flight from Moscow to Kamchatka and back is enough for 30,000—50,000 rubles per person - if you catch tickets 3-4 months before departure. It is more difficult to fly from other cities: almost always transfers are needed, and the price is rising. The advice is simple: set a reminder and monitor prices in advance.

Recreation center "Lesnaya": not a hotel, but a house in a fairy tale
Petropavlovsk‑Kamchatka is the heart of the region, but the real Kamchatka begins beyond its borders. The Lesnaya recreation center is located in a green area, away from the hustle and bustle. There are no noisy bars or crowds of tourists here — just the forest, fresh air, and walking trails to natural beauty.

 What awaits you at the recreation center:

  • cozy wooden houses for 2-4 people with heating and all necessary amenities;
  • a picnic area with a barbecue grill, where you can cook fish purchased from local fishermen;
  • a sauna (available for an additional fee) — perfect after a long day in the cold;
  • breakfast is included in the price of accommodation;
  • lunches and dinners can be ordered separately (about 1,500 rubles per day per person).
  • The price per night is 4,000-6,000 rubles per house. For a week, it will cost 28,000-42,000 rubles. If you travel with a group, the cost is divided, making accommodation more affordable. Another advantage is that the base sometimes offers discounts for longer stays or package deals (accommodation + excursions). It is best to check in advance.

Food: from hiking snacks to Kamchatka delicacies
There are three options for food:

  • At the base — convenient, but a little more expensive: breakfast is included, the rest — for an additional fee.
  • In the cafe — you can have lunch for 500-800 rubles, dinner — about the same.
  • On your own — you buy at the store and cook on the grill or in the house. You can fit in 1,000 rubles per day.
  • It will take 7,000-14,000 rubles per person for a week to eat — it depends on how much you are ready to experiment with cooking and local products.

 What to see: the minimum and maximum program
Without excursions, Kamchatka is like a book without pages. Here is what should be included in the plan:

  • Avachinsky and Koryaksky volcanoes (a day trip) — 8,000-12,000 rubles. They will take you there, guide you along the trail, and tell you why these mountains are alive.
  • Thermal springs in Paratunka — 2,000–3,000 rubles. After trekking on the volcano's slopes, the hot water feels like paradise.
  • Boat trip with fishing — 5,000–7,000 rubles. Catch salmon or Kamchatka crab, and then cook it for dinner.
  • A jeep tour to the hot springs costs 6,000-8,000 rubles. On the way, you'll see valleys, rivers, and, if you're lucky, wild animals.
  • A tour to the bears (at Kuril Lake) costs at least 15,000 rubles. It's expensive, but it's a chance to see predators in their natural habitat.
  • Plan to spend 20,000-30,000 rubles or more for a week of activities, depending on what you want to see.

How to get around: options and prices

  • Taxis — from the airport to the city, about 1,000 rubles. Convenient for short trips.
  • Car rental — from 25,000 rubles per week plus petrol. Freedom of movement, but you need to drive on dirt roads.
  • Group transfer — sometimes organized by recreation centers, including Lesnaya. Check when booking: it may be free or for a small fee.
  • Buses — run around the city, but most attractions are not reached.

Overturned expenses
Don't forget about:

  • Souvenirs - caviar, bone crafts, woolen socks with ornamentation. Lay out 3,000-5,000 rubles.
  • Equipment - if you plan to hike, you will need boots, a backpack, a raincoat. You can rent on the spot.
  • First aid kit - it is better to take a basic set with you.
  • Reserve fund - 2,000-5,000 rubles in case of force majeure.
  • Total calculation for a week (per person)
  • flight: 30,000-50,000 rubles;
  • accommodation at the Lesnaya base (with breakfasts): 28,000-42,000 rubles (divided by the number of guests in the house);
  • food: 7,000-14,000 rubles;
  • excursions: 20,000-30,000 rubles (or more if you take additional ones);
  • transportation: 5,000–25,000 rubles;
  • souvenirs and unforeseen expenses: 5,000–10,000 rubles.
  • Total budget: 95,000–171,000 rubles. Two people sharing a house at the base can stay within 80,000–130,000 rubles each.

Life hacks for saving money

  • book your tickets and recreation center several months in advance;
  • choose the off-season (April–May or September–October): prices are lower, and the views are the same;
  • team up with other tourists for excursions and transfers – it will be cheaper;
  • ask Lesnaya about discounts and packages (for example, “a week + two excursions”).

Kamchatka is a place where nature shows itself in all its power. Recreation center Lesnaya will help make your trip more comfortable: You will live in peace, breathe fresh air and still have easy access to the brightest sights. It is not just a vacation - it is an experience that will stay with you forever.
